History Groups
Family History: Each month, a member of the group
gives a talk or leads a discussion on a topic related to family history. There are occasional,
separate meetings held for beginners. All levels of expertise/interest welcome. Meet on the

History: This is a new group formed following the demise of History 1
and 2. This year we are looking at British history from the Romans up to the early 20th century. As well as giving
a general introduction to the subject, we shall be exploring a particular aspect of each period in rather more
detail. We also hope to make a couple of visits to local historical sites. We meet at All Saints' Parish Church
Hall, Vicarage Road, Hoole on the 4th Thursday of the month 10:30-12:30. At the moment we have about 20 members;
more would be welcome.

Industrial Heritage: Members organise visits to former industrial
sites, eg quarries, tramways, workplaces and museums linked with manufacturing. An ability to walk up to 4 miles
over rough terrain is required; boots are an advantage. The group meets in Caldy Valley Neighbourhood Centre car
park and shares cars. A packed lunch is needed. Meet on the 3rd Friday each month. Click
here for photos and reports from some of the Group's visits.

9.30am to share cars. The first meeting of the group will be to a quarry behind Loggerheads on 20th July.
