Language Groups
Spanish: We are a group of six members (5 female and 1 male) who have been learning Spanish for several years. We decide on a topic and each prepares a piece for the following week, which then leads to open discussion. We are also using Hugo Advanced Spanish (book and CDs) as a further challenge. We would welcome new members who feel that they would enjoy contributing and learning within the group. We meet on Thursdays from 10:00 to 12 noon

Spanish for Beginners: Mondays 10:00 - 12:00. Hopefully this group will help people travelling in Spanish speaking countries to introduce themselves and their families, find the way, shop, order drinks and food, book into a hotel and use public transport.

Spanish Improvers: The group meets on Monday afternoons from 2:00pm to 4:00pm in members' houses, currently in Blacon, Waverton, Tattenhall or Handbridge. Some of the members are attending classes in Spanish at night school and others have holidays in Spain.

German Conversation: Reading/translation of German texts from magazines and/or books, word games and open discussions. We meet on Wednesday mornings from 10:00am to 12:00 noon at Guilden Sutton Village Hall. Participants require sufficient knowledge of German to participate in a simple conversation. Not suitable for beginners.

French Conversation: This is for members who can take part in discussions in French with only an occasional loss for an everyday word in general subjects. New potential members of the group are welcome to visit us to find out if they fit in. The group meets on alternate Thursdays (am).

French Intermediate: The group usually prepare news, discuss current affairs, newspaper articles, films and books. At present we are using The Ultimate French Review and Practice. This is a fully comprehensive manual, published in the USA. It covers every aspect of French grammar and structure. We work our way through successive chapters and use the exercises as a further means of extending our vocabulary and improving our overall language skills. The group meets every Monday (am).

Further French: Members enjoy conversation about a variety of interests and topical news items from the French press. A reasonable grounding in the French language is required in order to be comfortable with this approach. The group meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from 10:00am to 12 noon.
